Dani Alves has called on Barcelona to maintain their five-point advantage over Real Madrid by beating Villarreal this weekend.
The league leaders travel to El Madrigal, while rivals Madrid are entertaining Sporting Gijon, with the Clasico just two weeks away.
And the message is clear from the Brazilian international, who is keen on keeping on top.
“Five points would be a great advantage to take with us to the Bernabeu,” Alves told the press.
Alves recently signed a long-term extension at Camp Nou, and he admits the rivalry with los Merengues excludes a future in Madrid.
“It’s impossible that I would play for Madrid. I think it would also be disrespectful,” he said.
Following their clash with Villarreal, Barcelona take on Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.
