F1 Turkish Grand Prix Betting Preview, Odds and Tips

After taking a three week break from action, the F1 circuit hits Europe with the Turkish Grand Prix going off on the weekend in Istanbul. The new season started with a blitz from defending champion Sebastian Vettel and his Red Bull winning the firs two races. It looked as if there would be no stopping the German from running away with things so early in the season, but out in China in the previous race, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton threw a spanner in the works of Vettel, by storming home to victory. That was a massive victory for not only McLaren and Hamilton, but the rest of the season really. Hamilton’s victory have kept things interesting at least, but does this mean that we can be expecting another British F1 World Champion this season (Hamilton is 14/5 at SportingBet to win the title)? Well, that will be jumping the gun just a little bit, because the victory in China was more down to the choosing of tactics by McLaren than the team having picked up their speed to contest on an even keel with the Red Bull team. It was a thrilling finish to the China Grand Prix, with Hamilton getting the jump on Vettel just four laps from the finish. Going into the start of the season, McLaren looked to be seriously lacking the speed to challenge Red Bull, but this victory at least closes the gap just a little bit. The Red Bull is still the faster of the two cars, but McLaren have been frantically throwing development at their cars in order to get better performance, and more speed. There were elements of them having stepped up their game in China, but there is still a lot of work for them to do.

If McLaren are going to get a hold of things and lay down markers for the rest of the season, and show some intent that the Red Bulls are not going to have things all their own way, then they need to carry their momentum on in Turkey. Being back in Europe, McLaren may actually gain a bit of advantage, especially in Turkey, where the team finishes a brilliant 1-2 last season. It was Hamilton who came in first last year ahead of team mate Button, and for the 21 point between him and championship leader Vettel, Hamilton could do with another finish like that on the weekend. For all of the catch up which McLaren has done, and still needs to do, they seem to be learning quickly. There is the promise of more tweaking and rapid upgrades to the cars, all of which will be based on what they have learned so far from their three races. Button insisted that the team are still learning about the car, and so they are working on the fly really to try and get ahead of the Red Bulls. Hamilton could have a good edge in Turkey again, and is well worth backing in your Turkey Grand Prix betting. That is because there is a lot of reward for bravery and that is what Hamilton has in spades. The Istanbul track is one of the more exciting on the F1 circuit, and under late breaking there is much time to be gained. Hamilton still realistically needs to find more pace from his car, both in qualifying and in the race itself if he is going to push Vettel hard for the F1 title this year. He still remains the underdog behind Vettel for that.

Turn eight has become one of the most famous on the F1 Grand Prix circuit, simply because it is a corner which has more than one apex. The drivers love it because of the high levels of g-force going around there. It is a bit of a drain on tyres though. The amount of stress that one turn alone will cause on tyres, that the teams will have to plan a strategy around that factor. So who to look at for your Turkey F1 Betting? Well, ignore the Ferrari’s as they look as if they have a lot of tweaking to do at the moment surprisingly. So, your F1 Turkish Grand Prix betting should go straight to Vettel. No, Vettel’s strategy wasn’t perfect in China, but you know, they were still close, with Vettel leading until four out. They will have learned from that. Plus team-mate Webber did get his nose past Jenson Button on the final lap to take third place. The pace still wasn’t there in the McLaren’s really, so a lot can be put down to Hamilton’s performance behind the wheel. Vettel has to be favourite because he has the quickest car and is in such good form. Lewis Hamilton will be on an expected high after winning this race last year, and if the improvements to the car are down pat, then he could challenge again. However, with the Istanbul track being as it is, Vettel should get more opportunity to get the high speeds down, and that is where he will get an edge over Hamilton. Also look for Vettel to take Pole Position as he is just so quick and strong in the qualifiers. Stick with the German for the race as he is in the quicker car, with Hamilton looking to push him hard. Look for Turn Eight, look for the tyres to play a major role here in Istanbul, Turkey.

F1 Turkish Grand Prix Betting Tip: Vettel, the German still has the advantage of speed and you still have to wait to see what further upgrades have been done by McLaren. There is good value on Hamilton with his aggression and history here too.

F1 Turkish Grand Prix Betting Pole Betting Tip: Vettel, has the speed in the uninterrupted qualifying to take this. It’ll just be getting the job done quickly and preserving tyres.
