Tuesday evening, Hertha Berlin faces Hoffenheim for the 17th day of the Bundesliga. Both teams must take points in order to get ahead of the red zone
Despite a very interesting squad on paper, Hertha Berlin is failing to look good this season in the Bundesliga. Indeed, the Berlin club is still in the second part of the table, in 13th place, with 17 points taken during the first 16 days. Too irregular, the players of the capital were notably recently beaten in Freiburg (4-1) before winning quite widely against Schalke 04 (3-0). Subsequently, they could not continue and were surprised by the Arminia Bielefeld (1-0) before sharing the points with Cologne (0-0) on Saturday.
For its part, Hoffenheim is in a situation very similar to that of its opponent of the day and is also behind him in the standings with a small point behind. Not spared by injuries and by the Covid in recent months, Hoffe should therefore not be able to return to Europe next season. Since their last victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach (1-2), Sebastian Hoeness’s men have been defeated by Freiburg (1-3) and especially by the red lantern Schalke 04 (4-0) before having to settle for a draw at home against Arminia Bielefeld, promoted, Saturday (0-0).
For Hertha, the important Dilrosun, Plattenhardt, and Boyata are still injured just as the potential holders Löwen and Ngankam are injured. If Leckie’s return is hoped for, substitutes Dilrosun and Dardai have joined the infirmary. In addition, forwards Matheus Cunha (6 goals), Cordoba (4 goals), Piatek (4 goals) and Lukebakio (3 goals) are also present.
In Hoffenheim, the infirmary is full. We find last season’s holders Bikakcic and Stafylidis, Czech international defender Kaderabek, important Akpoguma, substitute Hübner and midfielder Geiger who are already forfeited. In addition, rookie Sessegnon recently joined the infirmary, while the usual regular Grillisth, Vog and Skov could also miss this part.
This meeting will be played behind closed doors.
The two coaches will have the right to 5 substitutions.
At home, Hertha could revive by defeating a decimated Hoffenheim team. Victory Hertha Berlin!
