Incoming Santos coach Muricy Ramalho criticises Ganso media circus

Muricy Ramalho admitted that the constant transfer speculation surrounding Ganso was a worry, as the former Sao Paulo and Fluminense coach prepared to become the starlet’s new trainer at Santos.

Ramalho, winner of four of the last five Brazilian National Championships as a coach, has not yet signed a contract with the Peixe, but revealed that he had verbally agreed to take over at the legendary Sao Paulo club.

A notorious disciplinarian, the 55-year-old insisted that he would not have any problems dealing with Santos’ many stellar, headstrong young talents, but admitted that the situation with Ganso was troubling.

“Ganso is my biggest worry. He has to work out what he wants, where he wants to go and the fans have to understand as well that he is still recovering, he is still not 100 per cent,” Muricy told Radio Bandeirantes on Tuesday morning.

“The people that look after his interests should take more care on their part, the negotiations shouldn’t be made public. When that happens, if the kid comes to play and has a bad game the fans are going to turn on him.”

The tecnico finished by praising the playing style of the Peixe, who also boast youngsters like Neymar, Alan Patrick and Alex Sandro in the line-up.

“It is a team which is great to watch, capable of incredible improvisation. A lot of football looks the same, with teams closing down the spaces and marking. Santos however can improvise, dribble, do things that are a joy to watch,” Ramalho gushed.

The highly-regarded trainer is expected to sign an official deal with the club in the next few days, and will visit the squad in the dressing room prior to tomorrow’s crucial Copa Libertadores clash against Colo Colo.
