John McEnroe believes that there is an argument to be made that Rafael Nadal is close to surpassing Roger Federer as the greatest player in the history of the game.
Nadal has won nine Grand Slam titles to date, still seven behind Federer’s Open era record mark of 16, but McEnroe thinks that other factors also come into play.
He told a conference in Doha: “There’s an argument that Rafael Nadal could be the greatest player eventually.
“Even though he doesn’t have as many Slams, if he remains healthy, in a couple of more years he could be the greatest player to have ever lived, no doubt about that.”
