Real seal Khedira signing

Real Madrid have sealed the signing of Germany international midfielder Sami Khedira for an undisclosed fee from Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, having starred for his country at the recent World Cup finals in South Africa, where Germany reached the semi-finals.

Khedira told Marca after signing on at Real: “This is a dream come true for me.

“I know that with (coach) Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid I will win titles. Tactically his teams are perfect, he is a winner.

“As for Spanish football, it’s unique and Spain were worthy world champions.”

West Bromwich Albion have wrapped up the signing of Wales international goalkeeper Boaz Myhill for an undisclosed fee from Hull City.

The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract at The Hawthorns, where he will challenge Scott Carson for a starting spot.

Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson has signed a contract extension to keep him at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2013.

The 25-year-old England international joined the Black Cats in the summer of 2007 from Manchester United and has since racked up 85 appearances in all competitions.

His current deal was set to run out in 12 months’ time, but Richardson has now earned a long-term stay.

New Zealand made it three wins out of three in the Tri-Nations this season with an action-packed 49-28 victory over Australia in Melbourne.

The All Blacks started their campaign with two wins over world champions South Africa and continued their fine form in the Docklands Stadium, outscoring their hosts seven tries to three.

Outside-half Dan Carter again led the way with 19 points, going over once himself, while there were also tries for Mils Muliaina (2), Richie McCaw, Cory Jane, Joe Rokocoko and Corey Flynn.

For the Wallabies Matt Giteau landed two penalties and two conversions, with their tries coming from Drew Mitchell, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Rocky Elsom.

Mitchell left his side with a mountain to climb early on in the second half, as he was sent off after being shown a second yellow card of the game by South African referee Craig Joubert.

Red Bull dominated in qualifying yet again, with Sebastian Vettel securing pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix and team-mate Mark Webber alongside him on the front row.

Vettel was more than four tenths of a second faster than his Australian colleague, while Webber was more than eight tenths of a second quicker than the rest of the field.
