Peter Lim has made a £320million offer for Liverpool and pledged to make £40million available for new players.

Confirmation of the Singapore businessman’s fresh interest comes on the same day that current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are taking on major creditors Royal Bank of Scotland in the High Court.

They are attempting to halt the £300million sale of the club to John W Henry and his New England Sports Ventures company.

Meanwhile, Henry has pledged solidarity with the Liverpool fans hoping for a swift resolution to the Anfield ownership saga.

“Everyone is hoping for the best,” he said via Twitter. “There have been enough twists and turns. Hopefully all gets sorted out soon; LFC moves forward.

“It would be inappropriate and presumptuous at this time to respond to questions. In the interim, we’re all rooting for the same thing.”
