Monday night’s football comes from League One, as the County Ground hosts a local derby clash between Swindon Town and Bristol Rovers.

Rovers currently lead their hosts by three points, with Town having made a slow start after losing 1-0 to Millwall in the play-off final last season.

Danny Wilson’s Robins failed to register a win in their opening five league games, before taking three points from each of their next three fixtures to seemingly get back on track.

The 1-0 home victories over promotion-hopefuls Southampton and Huddersfield appeared to show that Town had regained their form, having struggled for goals following the summer departure of key striker Billy Paynter.

Paynter’s partner in crime from last season, Charlie Austin, was also expected to move on, but he has stayed put and found the net four times before being sidelined by a shoulder problem.

In total, Wilson’s side have scored 12 times in ten league games, but their defence has been creaking in defeats in their last two outings.

Plymouth Argyle left the County Ground with all three points after Bradley Wright-Phillips netted a late winner in a 3-2 thriller, before newly-promoted Dagenham and Redbridge edged out Town 2-1 last weekend.

Visitors Rovers started the new season with just one win in their opening six league games, but Paul Trollope’s men have since won three out of four to move into the top half of the table.

A 3-0 victory at Dagenham and Redbridge was followed by a 2-1 success at home to Notts County, before Rovers slipped to a surprise 1-0 loss to lowly Tranmere Rovers.

They got back on track last time out as Will Hoskins popped up in the final minute to secure a 1-0 triumph at Huddersfield Town, with the summer recruit from Watford making it five goals in 11 games since his arrival.

Goals have been few and far between from other sources, with all of Jeff Hughes’ three strikes coming against the Daggers.

Last season’s two meetings were decidedly one-sided, with Rovers surprisingly winning both games in a convincing manner.

In December, goals from Andy Williams, Hughes and Jo Kuffour secured a 3-0 success at the Memorial Stadium.

Just under three months later, Town were thrashed 4-0 on their home turf, with Kuffour, Paul Heffernan, Chris Lines and Hughes on the scoresheet.
