Wolves have confirmed that Adlene Guedioura fractured his tibia in the 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Algeria international midfielder, 24, was injured in a challenge with Villa substitute Steve Sidwell in the closing stages of the game at Molineux.

Guedioura, who joined Wolves from Charleroi in January, will be out of action for between four and six months.

“It’s desperately disappointing news, both for Adlene and the club,” manager Mick McCarthy told the club website.

Guedioura moved to Molineux initially on loan, and impressed sufficiently to be signed on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee at the end of last season.

Wish him a full recovery then, what’s with all the footballers breaking their legs suddenly?

He has played 20 times for Wolves, scoring once.

“It is going to be a lengthy absence, but on the plus side the consultant has told us that it’s an uncomplicated fracture,” said Wolves physio Steve Kemp.

“In these situations, that’s as good as it gets.”

Wolves lost their first West Midlands derby of the season to a late goal from Villa striker Emile Heskey.
