Premier League newcomers Blackpool and West Bromwich Albion face up to each other at Bloomfield Road on Monday evening.

Seasiders manager Ian Holloway will be dreaming of all three points as his team look to keep their heads above water after a difficult recent spell.

They have lost four of their last five games after making a promising start to the campaign.

Wins over Wigan Athletic and Newcastle United propelled last season’s Championship play-off victors into the upper echelons of the league table, but a recent barren run sees them on the slide.

They have collected just one point from a possible nine on home soil and will see this game as the ideal chance to turn their own pad into something of a fortress.

Without doubt their majestic 2-1 win at Liverpool ranks high on their all-time achievements, but they must arrest their slump against a West Brom outfit that are flying high at present.

The Baggies are by far the stand-out achievers so far this season and go into this one as the marginal online favourites to claim another success.

Despite their horrific 6-0 thrashing at Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season, manager Roberto di Matteo is becoming something of a cult figure at The Hawthorns.

A fine 3-2 win at Arsenal and a recent 2-2 stalemate at Manchester United left Albion sitting in sixth spot with 15 points to their name going into this weekend’s fixtures.

Three wins and three draws in their previous six outings also places them third in the form guide behind Manchester City and Chelsea.

With Chris Brunt, Jerome Thomas and Somen Tchoyi showing promise, they will be confident of adding another three points to their excellent tally so far.

But opposite number Holloway can count on talisman Charlie Adam to pull the strings in the midfield engine room.

The Tangerines tick when their Scottish talisman hits form and, with DJ Campbell, Luke Varney and Marlon Harewood creating havoc in the final third, this has all the hallmarks of an excellent showdown.

On the team news front, the excellent Peter Odemwingie is likely to miss out for the Baggies with a knee injury while Marc-Antoine Fortune, who limped out of last week’s 2-1 win over Fulham, is struggling with an ankle knock. Jonas Olsson (Achilles) is also unavailable to di Matteo.

The hosts will be without long-term absentee Billy Clarke (cruciate ligament) while defender Alex Baptiste is nursing a knee injury and is some way from a comeback.
