Cristiano Ronaldo is set to inspire Real Madrid against Tottenham as he leads the crusade against Spurs in tonight’s Champions League quarter-final first leg match.

Marca.com reports Jose Mourinho will commandeer the 26-year-old ace to start against the Premier League side, 24 hours after claiming he was a ‘doubt’ following a recent hamstring problem, only to include him in the 19-man squad for the game shortly after.

Marcelo and Angel Di Maria, who were also labelled as doubtful, are expected to play. With Karim Benzema not available through injury, former Arsenal man Emmanuel Adebayor will use all of his previous experience against Spurs to lead from the front.

The latest reports from Spain suggests Madrid’s starting XI will be a 4-2-3-1: Casillas; Ramos, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo; Xabi Alonso, Khedira; Oezil, Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo; Adebayor.

Madrid have not been involved in this stage of the competition for seven seasons.
