Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has asked the Black Satellites to return from the African Youth Championship in South Africa with the ultimate prize.

Speaking to the players following their final training session before their departure for a pre-tournament camp in Kenya later on Tuesday, Nyantakyi warned the squad that all eyes would be on them as defending champions – of Africa and the World – hence they should emulate the examples of their predecessors.

“We are the defending champions for Africa and the world so you have a huge responsibility to discharge in this competition. Everybody will be looking up to you and a second place will not be accepted,” the FA boss said.

“You have to repeat the feat that the team last chalked in Rwanda.”

The west African country became the first African side to win the World U-20 championship in Egypt 2009 under the tutelage of now Rwanda national team coach Sellas Tetteh.

The next African edition takes place in South Africa from 17 April to 2 May and Ghana have been paired in Group B with Nigeria, Cameroon and The Gambia.
